Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $199,954)

Through this project, the Leon County Schools and its partners will address two primary strategies: secondary prevention and gang intervention. The major goals for this project are to: (1) improve the coordination of services pertaining to prevention and intervention of high-risk and gang involved youth in Leon County; (2) adapt criteria that establishes high-risk behaviors that may lead to gang involvement to more effectively intervene with high-risk youth before engagement in serious offenses; and (3) implement an effective means of intervening with youth to reduce their involvement in gang-related activities in schools and the community.
