Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $44,717)

Angel Ranch (AR) is an emergency shelter that provides 24/7 care to foster children in the legal custody of the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS). AR provides quality services and care for its children by meeting their need for a loving environment and daily needs of shelter, food, clothing, personal items, school supplies, privacy and recreation. AR serves as the children's physical guardian during a stressful time in their lives, enrolling them in school and arranging for local medical and dental care. The AR staff consists of well trained and nurturing individuals who value the worth of our children and their right to a safe and loving home situation. The AR program of care and services is assessed through periodic review via staff interviews, focus groups and performance evaluations; annual MDHS licensure review and youth surveys.
