Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $268,305)

The grant will enable Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC) to: 1) Operate a youth development program for 75 out-of-school youth; and 2) Provide holistic capacity building and leadership development services to six NYC youth-serving institutions serving out-of-school youth. LPAC aims to reverse the trends of out-of-school youth, who often are engaged in anti-social behavior, including violence, criminal activity, gang activity, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and non-employment. Through the Youth Service and Capacity Project (YSCP), youth become Youth Holistic Servant Leaders, who legitimately represent and are accountable to their families and communities. NCA/NCF
