Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $156,511)

The Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC) Teen Program seeks to enroll 250 teens who reside in Section Five. The Teen Program will operate six days a week, year round where neighborhood youth are welcomed to participate in a variety of activities daily. By providing a variety of choices, involving youth in planning and evaluating activities, and requiring youth to participate in at least one structured activity while also providing teens with the flexibility to also drop-in whenever they prefer; the Teen Center is enabling young people to gain the many benefits associated with regular participation in a quality after school program. The program activities will be assessed periodically using multiple methods. The development of a leadership committee comprised of participants will meet regularly to discuss program activities, procedures and future enhancements. Parent meetings will be held to address their ideas and concerns. Staff will meet as needed to evaluate all aspects of serving the community and running a quality program. A multi-faceted evaluation process has been very helpful in managing and assessing the Teen Center. Staff will monitor registration, attendance, and retention levels during each session and from season to season. NCA/NCF
