Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $67,076)

The Urban League of Greater Columbus Invest in Youth After School Program will reach disadvantaged and underserved youth ages 11-14 by addressing their academic, social, emotional and cultural skills through a safe, challenging, and engaging learning experience. Positive role models will direct services to these students offering insight into the importance of making the right decisions in life. This program will tackle the problems of poor school attendance and low academic achievement, as well as violent and criminal behavior. The program will report performance measures that include improved school attendance, improved academic performance, and a decrease in delinquent behavior.
