Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $212,408)

The City of San Diego will support the Family Justice Center (SDFJC) Early Identification and Intervention Program. SDFJC is comprehensive, one-stop shop for victims of family violence and their children. SDFJC goals are to reduce the reentry of children and families within the San Diego court system, strengthen families to ensure that children remain with their biological parents and avoid entry into the foster care system, and provide wrap-around services to the entire family affected by domestic violence. SDFJC will enhance their capacity to identify and intervene with more families at risk of experiencing, or re-experiencing, family violence. SDFJC will identify and enroll families with children ages zero through two years into the program; complete developmental assessments at intake, developing customized case management plans based on the needs of the children and family; complete follow-up developmental assessments at six months post-intake to monitor developmental progress; assist the parent in accessing existing services throughout the community; and report outcomes and success to the court.
