The purpose of the Outward Bound Los Angeles (OBLA) Gang Intervention Program is to reduce gang involvement by engaging participants, their families, and their school in a year-long social skills development program embedded in OBLA's life transforming wilderness program. African- American and Latino youth from Northwest Pasadena and Altadena are our target population. The youth will participate in wilderness expeditions and experiential learning clinics in non-violent communication, conflict resolution, teambuilding, self-mastery, restorative justice, character development, leadership and service. Families will be part of the process. Collaborating agencies will perform baseline assessments, orientations, group and family counseling, social and coping skills training. NCA/NCF
