Detroit Workforce Development Department (DWDD) proposes to implement a mentoring program for 14 and 15 year old city of Detroit youth who are registered in DWDD's WIA Youth program. The project will be implemented over three years and will serve approximately 30 youth a year for a total of 90 youth. Mentors will meet with mentees twice a month during the program year. Progress will be measured by the number of participants who develop career plans and who meet with their mentors regularly. The project will track participants' scholastic achievement, truancy rate and frequency of contact with the juvenile justice system.
