Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $268,305)
Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) will provide over 22,000 Brooklyn and New York City students with access to high-quality arts education through a range of residencies and performances that encourage and support student-learning both in and outside the classroom. BAM's arts education programs serve students who are not otherwise flourishing in traditional learning environments and in danger of falling prey to factors that statistically lead to acts of delinquency. Participating students include ESL students, as well as low-performing students who lack many of the resources available to their peers from higher-income backgrounds. To ensure it meets its program goals, BAM uses quantitative and qualitative evaluation to assess its education offerings. NCA/NCF
