Northwest Family Services (NFS) is seeking to establish behavioral health services as well as linkages for additional services in the rural, remote areas of northwestern Oklahoma. NFS plans to provide Prevention and Diversionary outpatient behavioral health care services to children and families in Harper, Beaver and Major counties. NFS will replicate a very successful model of the Circuit Rider Counselor program developed and maintained by the agency in Woods and Alfalfa counties using grant funds from the Administration of Children and Families, Runaway and Homeless Youth Program.
The Circuit Rider Counselors will be Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers or other appropriately licensed eligible personnel who will spend approximately 2 ½ days each week in the respective counties providing counseling, information, referral and education regarding child development, family dynamics and parenting issues for children and their families. Special student skill building services for area schools will also be provided upon request. NFC will report progress to OJJDP through reports and performance measures data. NCA/NCF
