Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $44,717)

Homenetmen will provide "wholesome and positive" programs for children, youth and families through organized after-school and weekend activities in a family-oriented environment. Homenetmen's goal is to develop a sense of volunteerism, community service, citizenship, teamwork, and leadership skills, in order to divert youth away from the drug-, gang-, and crime-culture. Homenetmen has four core programs: athletics, cultural awareness, scouting, and volunteerism. Homenetmen will offer daily tutoring sessions for low to moderate income children between the ages of seven to eighteen living in Glendale, CA. Student progress and outcomes will be measured and tracked to demonstrate quantifiable improvements in academic skills and an increase in college acceptances. NCA/NCF
