Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $127,430)

The Beltrami County Delinquency Intervention Project seeks to reduce the recidivism rate for first time and low level juvenile offenders who have overlapping issues of delinquency, drug and/or alcohol use, or involvement in child protection. The project will to reach approximately 50 youth and their families annually utilizing the CASASTART model of intense case management for identified youth ages 10 to 18. The objectives will be to: reduce the rate of juvenile offender recidivism, reduce the use of alcohol and illegal drugs by identified youth, increase capacity of community based prevention for identified youth to complete probation conditions within six months, and reduce court involvement initiated through probation and social services for the identified population.
