The mission of the Ruth Ellis Center is to provide residential safe space and support services for lesbian, gay, biattractional, transgender and questioning youth in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan. The overall objective of Ruth Ellis Center's Street Outreach Program (SOP) is to assist runaway, throwaway, homeless and street youth leave the streets for living situations free from sexual exploitation, substance abuse and other harmful acts and substances. Program services include: providing a safe and welcoming place; meeting basic immediate survival needs of the youth; and crisis counseling/shelter. The comprehensive internal program evaluation system provides the necessary data to create, monitor and continuously refine services to meet the needs of the youth. Through the Street Outreach Program, 50 to 90 youth are served daily. NCA/NCF
