The Coalition for Responsible Community Development will provide at-risk youth between the ages of 15-18 direct access to job training, employment readiness workshops, linkages to educational programs, and placement in paid, five-year, union apprenticeships in the construction trades, which provide a career path to a living wage job. The goals of the program are to help youth increase their earning potential and move toward financial stability and help them avoid becoming involved in criminal activities such as selling drugs and gang involvement. Performance measures will include percentage of program participants who complete the program's education requirements, percentage of program participants accepted into paid, full-time, five-year union apprenticeships, and percentage of program participants who increase their income by 30 percent or more.
