Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $67,076)

Youth Mentoring Connection seeks to provide mentors from Warner Bros. and Rhino Entertainment to 'at risk' youth. The project's primary activity will be to provide facilitated mentoring sessions twice a month, either in a corporate setting or in a community setting. The project will match 50 at-risk youth from inner-city schools and youth centers with entertainment industry employees over a one year time period. Additional services provided to program participants include: one-on-one counseling, monthly gender specific groups, surfing and snow boarding activities, academic support, tutoring, and assistance setting goals for secondary education. Performance measures will include: student grades and attendance, student surveys, mentor retention and program growth. NCA/NCF
