Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $178,870)

Since 1999, The Bucks County Juvenile Probation Department has operated the Truancy Reduction and Curfew for Kids (TRACK), Coalition. The TRACK Coalition consists of schools, police, district judges and public and private agencies and will focus on the problem of truancy in four school districts in Lower Bucks County - Bristol Township, Bensalem Township, Pennsbury and Neshaminy. The project will 1) provide counseling/case management services for 80 students annually, make assessments and engage services and programs that specifically address each student's needs; 2) provide Summer TRACK programs in the four school districts for a total of 60 middle school students with attendance and achievement issues, focusing on motivating and mentoring to increase commitment to school, and 3) provide over 500 hours of police overtime for four major departments, to enforce the Daytime Curfew Ordinance and to partner with school personnel in identifying and visiting the homes of delinquent absent students. The project will also compile follow-up information on attendance and achievement of students who have received services for one year after the service has been accomplishment. NCA/NCF
