Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $275,055)
The Yavapai-Apache Nation (YAN) (Nation) does not have adequate resources to provide alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs to youth ages 6 to 12 years. These are the ages when many decisions are being made that will determine if a young person will become involved with drugs or alcohol. Funds from the Tribal Youth Program Grant will be used to plan and implement prevention programs for the youth of YAN. By providing these programs fewer of the youth will be involved with the judicial system in their teens or adult years. The following are the performance measures for YAN:
develop programs to promote communication and teamwork; develop and implement an Adventure Counseling program; increase the number of families participating in TYP-YAN programs and activities; recruit Elders for presentations; and train Program Coordinator and other staff. CA/NCF
