Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $257,535)

Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians' (LTBB) project will focus on strategy development and implementation to provide after school and summer activities, parent education, address truancy and high-school drop out prevention and identify risk factors through activities that integrate their culture. There is a need to provide Tribal youth with opportunities to realize their cultural heritage and identification. This project will address all of these needs through a comprehensive four year Tribal Youth Program Project that embraces the idea presented in the project title, 'Positive Enrichment and Cultural Education.' There are 254 Tribal members under the age of 18 that reside in Charlevoix, Emmet and Cheboygan Counties. These Tribal members are the primary focus for this project. Of this total number, there are 150 youth ages 10 through 17. This project will serve at least 125 youth with special attention to those that are ages 10 through 17. CA/NCF
