Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $298,701)

Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians of California has a goal of providing prevention services to impact risk factors for juvenile delinquency. Prevention activities will be targeted towards at-risk youth (ages 12-17) and will include: sports activities, cultural events, after school program enhancements and expansion, and workshops geared toward drug and alcohol free, community participation, poverty prevention, non-smoking, and wellness. Targeted youth will be referred by parents, school officials, probation and social services organizations. Performance measures will include the actual number of youth and families served; the number of hours per youth and per family each youth and/or family has completed; the percentage of program youth who offend or re-offend in spite of intervention and prevention services.
