The Leadership Training Institute's (LTI) Gang Prevention Coordination Assistance Program is designed to support and enhance the coordination of existing community-based gang prevention and intervention programs and strategies that are closely aligned with law enforcement efforts. Under this 24 month Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) initiative, the Institute will be responsible to organize and oversee anti-gang activities under the following strategies: primary prevention, secondary prevention, gang intervention, and targeted gang enforcement. The primary goal of the program is to reduce gang activity in targeted Long Island communities through improved coordination of existing resources and activities that support multiple complementary anti-gang strategies. This goal will be accomplished by providing resources to strengthen the coordination function in existing multi-strategy anti-gang initiatives in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island with anticipated outcomes of improved identification, use, and integration of existing programs and resources.
