Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $200,000)
The Young Leaders mentorship program will recruit and train college women to lead Girl Scout programs for girls, aged 5-17 who reside in the District of Columbia, live in low-income areas and may be at-risk of engaging in delinquent activities or becoming victims of crime. This program is based on the fundamentals of Girl Scouting and will promote age-appropriate after school programming to build character, confidence, courage, and educational skills in a safe, all-girl environment.
