Team Focus will design and develop a mentor training program and pilot the program by providing the training at each partner location twice during the course of the year. Five (5), partner organizations have been identified and engaged including Mobile County, Alabama Public School System; Westerville, Ohio Public School System; Howard University, Washington, D.C.; Prince Georges Community College, Washington, D.C.; and, Prince Georges County Public School System Washington, D.C. Once mentors have been trained, there will be a strong pool of mentors to work with Team Focus participants and with high risk students and clients in partnering organizations. Team Focus has already strengthened its previous program by developing and implementing an individualized mentoring approach and an online mentoring and education program. With the individualized approach to mentoring, male mentors who have been carefully screened and trained will work, ideally, with no more than two young men. Data will be gathered from Team Focus young men, their mothers, counselors and teachers in their schools, and from mentors and partners to evaluate the effectiveness of training, mentoring relationships/support and partner satisfaction.
