Girls Incorporated of Huntsville is committed to serving girls in a safe, supportive environment. Girls Incorporated centers are open after-school until 6:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. during school vacation weeks, and for 10 full weeks during Summer Camp. This program will primarily service girls from low-income households, headed by a single mother. Girls, ages 5 to 18 years old that reside in one of the poorest communities in Madison County, Triana, AL, as well as girls residing in other under-served areas such as public housing communities will be the primary recipients of services. Girls Incorporated proposes to implement LEAP, or Life Empowerment Action Plan: A Mentoring and Journaling program for girl girls ages 5 to 18 years old year-round as part of its comprehensive programming structure. LEAP is a unique program where girls in the target age group have the opportunity to excel academically, explore new educational and career paths that were not exercised by their parents, with the support of caring adults who believe in their ability to achieve their highest ambitions.
