Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $40,000,000)

The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) will continue to expand Boys and Girls Clubs programs and establish new Clubs in distressed areas. Pass-through finding will help existing Clubs expand and enhance programs, services, and start new Clubs in existing and emerging areas of distress where the nation's neediest children and families reside, and build organizational capacity and sustainability through service improvements and enhancements. Specific areas of focus will include starting new clubs in distressed areas, expanding and enhancing BGCA programming with emphasis on youth between ages of 13-18 years of age, strengthening club services via capacity building efforts and programs, increased attendance of members with a focus on outcomes that emphasize academic achievement, life aspirations, juvenile crime reduction and training and technical assistance.

Impact/outcomes measures will demonstrate the following: establishment of 210 new sites, enrollment of 21,000 from distressed communities, implementing evidence based programs at grant sites, and support for sustainability and capacity building efforts. NCA/NCF
