Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $925,624)

The overall goals of this grant are reducing risk factors and enhancing protective factors as follows: prevention of delinquency risky behaviors by engaging youth in meaningful community-based service learning activities; prevention of delinquency risky behaviors by increasing positive attitudes towards civic engagement, academic achievement, increased self image, and/or leadership abilities; reduce arrest and re-arrest rates for key segments of participating youth; provide youth with training that creates strong youth leaders; and enhance the organizational capacity of youth serving agencies to provide high quality service learning based after school programs. These goals will be measured by the number of program youth served and hours of service performed as documented in attendance rosters and staff reports; pre- and post- testing results; number of youth who have offended or re offended to total number of program youth served; additional documentation on segmented groups of youth; number of youth participating in Greater Tucson Youth Leadership Program; data from pre/post testing, portfolio reviews and documented classroom observations; number of program youth served and hours of service performed as documented in attendance rosters and staff reports; and hours of training provided and post program year surveys and site evaluations.
