Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $998,379)

The proposed project will advance current practice in Metro Louisville/Jefferson County by incorporating the following three key points in order to address gaps in the service delivery systems that currently exist in the community: 1. Planning, assessing need, and crafting programs that fit with local realities. The proposed project will identify best practices utilizing an evidence based approach. Under an evidenced-based approach, the object is to identify all systematic trials, published or not, including those studies which produced negative effects or a null result. 2. Situating prevention efforts in ways and contexts that normalize the parent support process. In order to reach a much larger segment of the community, the proposed project will utilize a community education approach in a group format in settings with which families are already familiar - faith based and community organizations. 3. Focusing prevention programs for systemic reforms in health and social service institutions. The proposed project will support the capacity building activities of faith based and community organizations to decrease child victimization and delinquency. CA/NCF
