Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $85,000)
The American Youth Policy Forum will utilize grant funds to produce an easy-to-read report on three compelling case studies of effective projects funded by the Tribal Youth Program. The report will feature promising practices that demonstrate the leveraging of resources and will serve as an educational tool for other Tribal programs and as an outreach promotion tool.
The report will serve as a 'snap shot' into the world of tribal youth programs, displaying a variety of tribal youth programs including American Indian and Alaskan Natives. The report will entail cases studies with a focus on performance measures for the five Tribal Youth Program funding categories including: prevention services to impact risk factors for delinquency; mental health program services; interventions for court-involved tribal youth; improvement in the tribal juvenile justice system; and alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs. The report will include a description of the relationship between tribes and the state and local governments. Images of youth engaged in positive activities will be included where appropriate and available.
