Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $1,500,000)
With this funding IIR will continue to operate the National Youth Gang Center. Major tasks for NYGC include statistical data collection and analysis, compilation of gang-related legislation, review of gang literature, identification of promising gang program strategies, coordination of activities for the Youth Gang Consortium and training and technical assistance to sites implementing OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model and the Gang Reduction Program. Major goals include the Survey of law enforcement agencies for year 2006 to assess the prevalence and characteristics of youth gangs and to continue to synthesize and publish major gang research and evaluation findings.
