Youth Friends will provide technical assistance to 71 school districts in Kansas. Youth Friends will match children in grades K-12 with adult mentors in a school setting. The adult mentor will meet with the youth one day a week for an hour throughout the school year. The mentor will focus on improving academic skills, instilling a positive attitude and, encouraging healthy behaviors. In addition to the school, parents and children can initiate referrals. The school will report performance outcomes that include improved attendance, improved grades and reduced incidence of disruptive behavior. NCA/NCF
