Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $24,681)

The Muscogee County Marshal's Office will implement its Junior Marshal Program aimed at preventing delinquent behavior and building positive interaction between public safety personnel, students and their parents in eleven middle schools within the County.
This two-year effort will initially focus on 5 students from each target school. These students will be mentored during year One to encourage good citizenship, confidence and leadership and team-building qualities. First year students will be expected to serve as team leaders to other students in their school during year Two. A total of 110 youth are expected to participant over a 2-year period.

Students will be rated on their ability to exhibit the leadership and behavioral qualities of the program by assessing their cognitive development and their ability to plan, organize, and complete a school project approved by school officials.
