The Weeksville Heritage Center will implement an after school prevention program, Quill After-School Project, targeting 80 at-risk middle school students in Brooklyn, New York. The program's primary goals are to increase literacy skills and academic achievement in language arts and increase youth awareness of Weeksville history. The program's primary activities will include workshops on the following topics: 1) creative writing, 2) historical literature, 3) presentations by established artists and 4) Weeksville, African American and African Diaspora history. The grantee will track progress by reporting performance measures to OJJDP such as: improvements in school attendance, improvements in academics, and decreased youth offending. NCA/NCF
