Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $98,723)

The Martin Luther King Jr Freedom Center will utilize funds to expand their Youth & Nonviolence Leadership Core Group to 60 young people between the ages of 13 and 18. The participants will receive training in leadership skills, roots of violence, and hands-on practice of conflict resolution. The Team will work with other youth through outreach projects including nonviolent communication and leadership trainings, murals, newsletters, and service placements. The grantee will report on performance measures such as number of participating youth who offend, who exhibit targeted behavior change, and who successfully complete the program. NCA/NCF
