This program will serve as a drop off point for law enforcement officers for youth diverted from secure juvenile detention; as a drop in center available to status offender youth on a voluntary basis; and for crisis intervention services for youth/families from any part of Pierce County. The goals of the program include the reduction of juvenile crime and violence in Pierce County and the reduction of use of secure juvenile detention without increased risk to public safety. The program seeks to reduce recidivism, enhance school performance, and increase abstinence from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and decrease antisocial behaviors in the youth population we serve. The program will serve 100 youths and their families per year in this project and provide 24/7/365 response. Project activities will include crisis intervention, needs assessment, service brokerage, and case management for high-risk and early juvenile delinquent youths and their families who live in Pierce County, working to enhance outcomes in partnership within a network of community programs and agencies.
