Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $646,634)
The Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation will utilize grant funds to replicate the following program models throughout the state of New Hampshire: 1)Youth safe haven-police ministations linking local police officers with youth trained development mentors who work intensively with at-risk youth, aged 6-12, providing after-school programs that reduce risk to the youth, help with grade performance and promote cooperation between police and community residents; 2) Quantum Opportunities Program, an exciting, computer-based, youth development, remedial, education and mentoring initiative for older at-risk high school students; and 3) A capacity building initiative for nonprofit organizations engaged in the above kinds of programs and many related programs designed to reduce crime, reduce drugs, reduce fear, develop youth, improve education performance and provide training. Sites will be located in Nashua, Dover, Rochester and Sommersworth. Progress will be measured by tracking the number of participants served, the reduction in juvenile delinquency and exhibited desired change in target behaviors. NCA/NCF
