Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $98,723)

The Wayne County Juvenile Electronic Monitoring Program (EM) and Wayne County Department of Children and Family Services (CAFS) stakeholders are planning to curb detention overcrowding by serving a minimum of 500 youth on EM. CAFS will contract with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department's Warrant Enforcement Bureau (WEB) to improve the volume of EM installations per week, allow for quicker responses to EM equipment issues across Wayne County, reduce the time lapses in transporting youth from detention to community-based placements and allow for quicker apprehension of juveniles who violate their EM agreements.
