School Safe Program

Assumption Parish School System will implement the Safe School Diversion Program for students (grades 5-12) arrested in school for fighting, truancy, or vandalism. The project goal is to reduce arrests from school through the provision of two conflict resolution courses and completion of 8 community service hours. The overarching goal of this project is to reduce crime in Assumption Parish by 5% through the interaction of the law enforcement officers with students and identifying problems within the community At least 25 community meetings will be held throughout the grant program by Assumption Parish school resource officers working in the D.A.R.E. program.
