Roundabout Theatre Company, through its comprehensive Education programs has successfully integrated theatre-arts into classrooms throughout New York City, serving 5,000 public school students and their teachers with engaging learning activities. The goal is to identify select at-risk students from these schools and enroll them in one of two after-school intervention programs that will focus on the development of the personal and social skills they need for success in school and life in general. The project will serve approximately 300 students through in-class residences of which approximately 40 students will also be served through the after-school programs. The project will assess the in-class performance, test scores and attendance rates for the students who participate along with the progress of their personal and social development after school. The program performance measures will be reported by determining the number and percent of youth (or youth and families) successfully completing program requirements through assessment records and by reporting on number and percent of youth who offend using law enforcement records.
