The Institute for Student Achievement will implement small learning communities in the Metropolitan Corporate Academy and the Bushwick School for Social Justice in New York. The primary goal is to improve academic attainment, student retention, and post-secondary outcomes. The project activities will include 1) on- and off-site professional development for school staff; 2) technical assistance with program implementation; 3) direct counseling to youth and families; and 4) extended day/extended year activities (e.g. literacy, math skills, college tours, SAT Prep courses, Regents prep courses, and conflict resolution skills).
