The United Methodist Community Center's Truancy Intervention Program (TIP) is designed to provide effective delinquency prevention and behavior improvement through early intervention. TIP serves students in three schools and a technical career center who have excessive absenteeism and were referred by the Trumbull County Family Court. TIP identifies potential family stressors, provides home-based family assessment, and collaborates with community services to eliminate identified barriers to regular school attendance and to enforce parent participation/responsibility. The United Methodist Community Center will track progress by reporting performance measures to OJJDP such as: improvements in school attendance, improvements in academics, increased parent involvement and decreased youth offending.
