Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $197,446)
The Woonsocket Boys & Girls Club (WBGC) will incorporate the 'Healthy Kids are Happy Kids' program which is based on a national program, Triple Play, developed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This program will engage at least 150 at-risk children and youth from grades 1-12 over a three-year period by providing a fitness and nutrition program to improve the youth's physical, mental, and emotional health. WBGC will offer Healthy Kids daily in both the after school and summer programs. Progress will be measured by the number of members who participate, length of participation, changes participants' health/fitness, school attachment, and the rate of delinquency. NCA/NCF
