Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $987,228)

Baltimore City Health Department plans to provide Multisystemic Therapy to 120 high-risk youth over the two years of the project period. Youth will be eligible if they are between the ages of 12 and 17, are residents of Baltimore City, exhibit a pattern of delinquent behavior, and are at risk for out-of-home placement. Multisystemic Therapy is a highly successful, evidence-based program that provides home-based treatment for three to five months. Therapists work with families to develop tools and strategies that will help them manage and reduce negative and delinquent behavior. The Health Department will contract with a mental health treatment organization to provide services and will ensure that the program adheres to the model by working closely with Multisystemic Therapy Services, Inc. The Department will also work to ensure sustainability through a combination of Medicaid and other State funding.
