Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $250,000)

Over the past 60 months, the cooperative agreement between CSG and OJJDP has yielded a comprehensive amendment to the Interstate Compact on Juveniles, now referred to as The Interstate Compact for Juveniles. Since January 2003, legislation adopting this compact has been enacted in 28 states; nine states are currently considering the compact (GA, HI, MA, MS, MO, NE, SC, TN, WI). It is expected that the revised compact will be adopted by the requisite 35 states by late-spring 2006. Current activities include technical assistance, operation of an online information clearinghouse and education of state officials about the revised agreement. Following enactment of the compact in the 35th jurisdiction, the project will begin transition operations to the new compact. It is expected that this process will last from July 2006 to December 2007.
