Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $76,414,380)

The Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) will provide pass-through funding to local Boys & Girls Clubs in the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The primary goals are to 1) expand and enhance Boys & Girls Clubs and their programs to increase the total number of youth served; 2) support and strengthen Boys & Girls Club services through organizational continuation/sustainability support, capacity-building efforts, and enhanced programs; and 3) decrease the negative impacts of the digital divide through training of Club professionals on how to successfully operate their technology centers as well as to ensure youth Internet use in safe and positive environments. The primary activities will be 1) pass-through grants; 2) technical assistance; and 3) training.
