Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $600,000)
Based on the 2004 census Cascade County has a population of 79,849 which includes the communities of Great Falls and Malmstrom Air Force Base. Of this population, there is a total youth population in excess of fifteen thousand, with approximately 4,000 adults' between ages 18-20, and well over 5,300 youths in the grades of 6th ' 12th. Under state oversight by the Montana Board of Crime Control, the Great Falls Police Department (GFPD), Malmstrom Air Force Base, Cascade County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and the Cascade County DUI Task Force will partner to implement researched based and promising practices that will reduce underage sales and consumption, and its negative community effects by addressing the environment, active duty and community domains. This Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Initiative will be monitored by the State of Montana Board of Crime Control and will be evaluated by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.NCA/NCF
