Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $224,996)
The Chippewa Cree Business Committee will work to improve tribal juvenile justice systems and serve at least 40 court involved youth (under the age of 18) annually. The program's goal is to reduce the crime rate on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation by improving the effectiveness of the juvenile court process and initiating a coordinated, comprehensive anti-crime and delinquency strategy geared at increasing the capacity of current service delivery systems. The program's strategy includes reducing, controlling, and preventing crime and delinquency both by and against tribal youth by conducting a comprehensive needs assessment as a planning tool to design appropriate and effective service delivery plans. The program also aims to improve tribal juvenile justice systems through the implementation of a tradition-based model of restorative juvenile justice linked with resources to improve youth services and by the adoption of a model juvenile justice code. Performance measures will include those set forth in OJJDP's FY05 TYP solicitation. CA/NCF
