Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $225,000)
The San Pasqual Band of Diegueno Mission Indians of California will provide a White Bison drug abuse prevention curriculum to impact risk factors linked to delinquency on the reservation. There are approximately 250 school-aged tribal youth living on the reservation, and they are the primary target population for the grant project. The goals of the program are to end the cycle of poverty and substance abuse in the tribe. Objectives include improving academic performance, reducing rates of substance abuse, and reducing poverty rates by encouraging youth to choose a productive and drug free lifestyle. CA/NCF
