The commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) remains a growing problem in New York City. Although recognition of the problem has grown, collaborative efforts in the City are still in their infancy. The Mayor's Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator (CJC) developed the Coalition to Address the Sexual Exploitation of Children (CASEC) to address this issue. This award will provide resources to enable the grantee agancy to continue to enhance its efficacy. CASEC will continue its work to reduce the incidence of CSEC in New York City in four ways ' through system integration; prevention and outreach; expanded services; and enhanced prosecution. The combination of outreach, services and prosecution is designed to prevent further exploitation and recruitment of children into prostitution. CASEC is designed to strengthen collaborative efforts among city agencies and local service providers, and develop strategies to increase direct services to victims of CSEC and enhance the prosecution of pimps who recruit teenagers into street prostitution. This award will fund activities over an additional twelve month period, extending efforts through June of 2008 and continues existing work under grant number 2003-JN-FX-K001 and corollary efforts under grant # 2004-JL-FX-0067 to develop safe emergency housing and support services for CSEC victims. Progress will be measured by the number of pimps arrested and sentences imposed in Queens, as well as the number of underage CSEC victims linked to services. NCA/NCF
