Major project activities are as follows: FVTC in conjunction with DOJ/OJP, will conduct a national conference to increase collaboration, enhance communication and accountability, and improve the AMBER Alert system. . FVTC will work with state clearinghouses, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and other groups to provide DOJ and constituent users information related to AMBER Alerts, recoveries, successes and other pertinent information. The information collected will also be used to assess progress and accomplishments, determine changes over time, pinpoint areas warranting further attention, and promote best practices. FVTC will develop publications and other documents to promote, enhance, and expand the AMBER program. FVTC will continue to publish a quarterly electronic newsletter and prepare other publications and written materials (i.e., briefs, articles for national organization newsletters, fact sheets, DOJ bulletins, best practice guides) to increase understanding of the AMBER Alert program and promote adherence to processes and procedures critical to the mission of the AMBER Alert program and the goals of the National AMBER Alert Coordinator. FVTC will expand the number of Child Abduction Response Team programs from the existing 51 teams. Additionally FVTC will develop a CART Certification Program designed to test the readiness of CART Programs. The existing AMBER Alert Extranet Network will be continuously improved to meet the needs of the state, local, and regional AMBER Alert Coordinators, State Clearinghouses, Tribal Coordinators, Canadian Coordinators, and others approved for use by DOJ. FVTC will develop a Strategic Business Plan for the AMBER Alert Program.
