Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $50,000)
In its efforts to address the structural and functional issues of the current Interstate Compact on Juveniles (ICJ), OJJDP, in cooperation with the Council of State Governments (CSG), is will continue provide legislative and policy support for states interested in adopting the newly drafted Interstate Compact FOR Juveniles. This effort is based on recommendations by the ICJ Advisory Group provided to OJJDP in the Spring of 2001. Over the past 30 months, the ICJ has been introduced in 41 states and adopted in 27 states (the agreement is currently under consideration in 8 states; as of June 15, 2005). Over the next twelve months, CGS will be engaged in continued education of the revised compact in order to meet the goal of 35 state enactments.
