Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $147,996)

The City of Norwalk Teen Alliance Program (TAP) will provide Norwalk youth ages 13 to 18 with community service projects, tutoring, and life skills and leadership seminars. Additionally, youth will receive information technology and employment training. TAP will receive referrals from school staff, parents, and gang intervention program staff. The goals of the project are to prevent juvenile delinquency and to promote academic success. TAP will report performance measures including lower rates of juvenile delinquency, improved academic performance, increased youth participation, and parent satisfaction measured by bi-annual student assessment evaluations.
